The One Good Friend I never knew I had

I had a picture of you in my mind.
Never  knew it could be so wrong.

The friend that was there all along.

It was a cold and foggy night and Scully and Mulder were driving home.  Scully kept saying lets get a motel, but Mulder wanted to get back to Dc as soon as he could.  They had been on a Case that involved Vampires in Dallas.  Only these turned out to be fakes.  Which pissed Mulder off.  Scully knew they were fakes.  What now she thought more U.F.O's.  She was getting fed up with the X-Files.  I guess it came after her Cancer went in to remission.  She thought there has to be more to life than this.  But She couldn't leave Mulder.  She had been all ready to leave him, But Mulder fed her some smooth lines and the nearly kissed but she got stung by a bee.  So she stayed.  He even told her to go and be a doctor.  She knew that she couldn't this quest for the truth was her life.  Suddenly with out warning a fox ran in the road and Mulder  steered the car to avoid it but the because it was so  foggy and the ground was wet the car skidded off the road and hit a tree.  With the impact of the crash Scully went back  in the seat hard.  She heard a crack in her back.  She was knocked unconscious, Mulder's head hit the steering wheel hard.

Krycek was on the road that night driving home.  He had been in L.A hiding out there for a while.  He was fed up with his job of hired killer.  He was glad he could still drive despite he lost of left arm.  He hated Smoking man with a passion.  Now he heard that the Well Manicured Man was dead there was no job there for  him.  So he went back to working for himself.  He saw the crashed car in the tree.  He was not all bad, as people may think.  No Alex Krycek had a heart of gold he pulled the car over and got out.  He waited  to see if there was smoke from the other car there wasn't.

He went to the car and saw that the driver was Dead and the passenger was injured.  He called 911 on his cell phone.  With in minutes the ambulance was there.

Krycek stood back and let the paramedics do there stuff.

When he saw the dead man on the stretcher he knew it was Mulder.  His eye's welled with tears.   The thought of never seeing Mulder again hurt him more than words could say.  He thought the world of Mulder, even if Mulder did hate him and beat him up.  Now Mulder would never do that.  It should be me laying there  not Mulder he thought.  He remembered how he had ambushed Mulder at his apartment and told he was there to help him.  Mulder didn't believe what he had said about there being a war and if  they didn't watch out they were going to go the  way of the dinosaur.  He then kissed Mulder on the cheek and left calling him  a friend in Russian.  That was the last time  Krycek ever saw Mulder alive.  He always thought Mulder would see his Dead body not the other way around.  Suddenly  the passenger up on a Stretcher , Krycek saw it was Scully, She had brushes on her face and her neck was in a support.  The last time he ever saw her was at an Airport just before he went to Tunguska with Mulder.  She was pissed off with him  back then.

It hurt to see her like that.  At least she's alive he thought.

"Did you see the accident happen?"  Some policeman asked.

"No, I found the car" Krycek said.

"If you hadn't of acted as quick as you did that lady would be dead, just like that man."  A paramedic said.

"If I had of got here sooner, that man would be a live" Krycek said trying to hold the tears back.

The ambulance drove off and  Krycek  told the police all he knew and followed the ambulance.

Scully awoke in a hospital bed.  She was scared and couldn't feel her legs.  A Nurse walked in.

"So Miss Scully, How are you feeling" The nurse said.

"How you know my name?"  Scully asked.

"We found it on your F.B.I Badge you had in your pocket."  The nurse said.

"Where's Mulder, I need to see Mulder" Scully said Anxiously.

"I'll get the Doctor" The nurse said  leaving the room.

Scully was scared, she could feel her leg's, didn't know where Mulder was.  A tall man with dark brown hair and blue eye's walked in.  He was the doctor.  He was a young man in his late 20's.

"I'm, Dr James Peterson."  He said.

"Where's Mulder?"  Scully said getting more Anxious by the minute.

"I'm sorry to say Miss Scully, Mulder didn't make it, He was killed as soon as his head hit the wheel.  I'm sorry" Dr  Peterson said.

"No" Scully said bursting in to tears.

"I'm sorry" Dr Peterson said walking out the door.

Scully lay there tears falling down her face.  She couldn't feel her legs.  Mulder was Dead she wished it was not true.  She never told him she loved him.  All those chances she had she missed and now she would never get the chance.

The doctor came back in.

"How you feeling" Dr Peterson asked.

"I can't feel, my Legs, Why can't I feel my legs."  Scully said.

"You had a spine injury, its just the after affects you should be able to feel your legs in a few minutes" Dr. Peterson said.  walking out the door.

"How is she?"  Krycek asked  as soon as he saw Dr Peterson.

"She has a spinal injury and at the moment can't feel her legs, she should be able to feel them soon.  She's a very lucky woman indeed.  She's lucky it was her back she hit and not her neck."  Dr Peterson said.

"Can I see her?"  Krycek asked.  He knew it was crazy to ask that as she would have him in the nearest jail, but he needed  to see her.

He never really hated her, He may have been Jealous of her and Mulder once.  But he never hated her.  He never hated Mulder if the truth be known.

"Yes" Dr Peterson said.

Krycek walked in Scully's room.  Scully looked up and saw him.

"Krycek, you son of a bitch, what you doing here?"  She yelled.

"I have you, know if it weren't for me you wouldn't be here.  I found your car and called 911.  I'm truly sorry about Mulder."  Krycek said softly.

"You found us, you probably pushed us off the road" Scully said.

"I didn't there was a dead Fox on the road."  Krycek said.

"I remember, he tried to avoid hitting it, He died trying to save his name sake."  Scully said.

"I'm sorry, for all that I have done, But I want you to know, I didn't kill Mulder's Father and I never Killed your sister.  I  may have been there at the time but I didn't kill them.  Cardinal as you know killed your sister.  I was there when Mulder's  Father died, trying to tell him not to tell Mulder a thing about what had been happening.  But the man that was with me  Shot Mulder's Father.  I was only told to stall Mulder in your abduction, I had nothing to do with the test's,  They  wouldn't even say  what was going to happen to you.  I'm truly sorry for everything.  I only did what I did to live.  I got  caught up in something  I couldn't handle.  I only wanted to see you were OK" Krycek said walking out the door before Scully could say he was lying.

Scully just sat there and thought.  She couldn't believe  what Krycek said.  But then again it could be true.  Krycek had saved her life.  I guess she had be repaid for Saving his life.

A few minutes had passed and she still could not feel her legs.  Krycek was walking down the road when he saw Scully's apartment Building as he had no where to crash down he decided that he would go there.  He picked her lock and stuck in he put the light on to dim and they went to her phone.  He  found the button that said Skinner and pressed it.

"Skinner" Skinner said on answering.

"Listen up, Scully and Mulder had a car accident.  Scully's alive with a spinal Injury and Mulder's dead.  He died from a head injury."  Krycek said hanging up before Skinner had time to guess who he was.

Skinner sat there a moment  tears welling in his eyes.  Mulder was Dead.  No more witty and sarcastic remarks.  No more chewing his butt over a case that  he went and bent the rules for.  Skinner picked the phone up and called Teena Mulder.

"Hello" Mrs.  Mulder said.

"Hello Mrs.  Mulder, I regret to inform you that there has been a car accident and that your son Fox Mulder was involved, I regret to say that he was killed in it.  His  Partner Dana Scully is in Hospital with a spinal Injury."  Skinner said.

"No" Cried Mrs.  Mulder.

"I'm sorry for your loss" Skinner said hanging up.

Next Skinner decided to ring Maggie Scully.

"Hello" Mrs.  Scully said.

"Mrs.  Scully, There has been an car accident.  Dana is in hospital with a  spinal Injury, Unfortunately her Partner Fox Mulder was killed in the accident."  Skinner said.

"Poor, Dana I must go to her" Mrs.  Scully said.

"I was on my way there my self, I can pick you up if you like" Skinner said.

"That's very kind" Mrs.  Scully said.

Meanwhile at the hospital Dr Peterson was prodding Scully's legs.

"Can you feel that" Dr Peterson asked prodding her leg.

"No" Scully said.

"I'm going to have to do surgery on your spine to see if I can repair it.  You should start to feel your legs in about 3 days."  Dr  Peterson said.

"And if I don't?"  Scully said.

"I'm not sure yet."  Dr Peterson said.

Scully was taken in for surgery.  When she was brought back and had awoken Skinner and her Mum were at her bed side.

"Dana, I was so worried" Mrs.  Scully said.

"Mom, I'm scared, The doctors don't look hopeful about my back.  I miss Mulder, I wish he were here" She said bursting in  to tears.

"He was the best agent I ever had."  Skinner said.

"I told him to stop at a motel, but he wouldn't, he was so pissed off with the last case that he kept driving.  If It wasn't for  Alex Krycek finding us, I would have been dead too."  Scully sobbed.

"Do you know where he went, I have a feeling it was him that rung me.  I have told Mrs.  Mulder about Mulder and she is at  the Morgue now" Skinner said.

"What ever Alex has done, I don't care, he saved my daughters life."  Mrs.  Scully sobbed.

"He's still a wanted Felon" Skinner said.

Three days passed and Scully still could not feel her legs.

"Anything" Dr Peterson said prodding her Leg.

"Nothing" Scully said

"I'm sorry, we have done everything we could but, It look's like you will never be able to walk again" Dr Peterson said.

Scully burst in to tears.  If Mulder had been a live he would have made a big song and dance about it.  He would have said no I don't except that, there has to be more you can do.  He never gave up hope not ever and that was one thing she liked about him.  He gave her the strength to fight, Now he was not there to egg her on and tell her there is hope.

Her Mother and Skinner had arrived to see her in tears.

"What's the matter?"  Mrs.  Scully asked.

"I'm sorry, but your Daughter will never be able to walk again."  Dr Peterson said leaving them alone.

"Its OK, Dana, you can come and live with me."  Mrs.  Scully said.

"I'll assign you to desk work."  Skinner said.

"No, my legs my not work, but there is nothing wrong with my brain."  Scully yelled.

"How will you manage in that apartment in a wheel chair."  Mrs Scully said.

"There's no point in keeping the X-Files open now Mulder is Dead" Skinner said.

"I will manage, Just fine Mom, I will have my apartment made so I can manage .  I can learn to adjust to this life style.  Also there is a point in keeping the X-Files open, I still want to find Samantha, Also I have to search the Truth.  Don't even bother to assign me a partner, I can do this alone.  Mulder may be dead, But I am not going to give up on his quest, I can't and I wont."  Scully said.

"But Dana, your handicapped" Skinner and Mrs.  Scully said together.

"Yes, But my brain isn't.  I don't want to be wrapped in cotton wool or mollycoddled.  I'm Fine."  Scully said.

Skinner and Mrs.  Scully knew to give Scully Respect.

"OK, You stay on at the X-Files."  Skinner said.

"Thank you sir" Scully said.

"OK, you stay at your apartment."  Mrs.  Scully said.

"Thanks Mom" Scully said.

Scully was as strong as ever,  Mulder would want her to continue with the X-Files.  No way was she going to let being in a wheel chair get her down.

A  week later she was discharged and brought home by Skinner.

"Its OK, Sir  I can manage on my Own now," She said as she reached her door.

"OK, See you at the funeral" Skinner said leaving .

Scully opened her door and wheeled in to her apartment.  The work men had been  and put all the things in she need to help her in her apartment.  She wheeled to the middle of the room and started to cry.

It was the day of Mulder's funeral and  Scully was there with all the F.B.I and Mulder's Mother.  She wheeled her self to where the vicar was so she could do her speech.  After her speech everyone left and walked to their cars.  Scully wheeled herself to Missy's grave and sat there a while.

A hand tapped her on the shoulder, she looked around and saw Krycek stood there.

"What are you doing here?"  She asked shocked.

"I was seeing, if a friend was OK, I'm sorry, Dana I'm so Sorry This has happened to you."  He said walking off.

Scully just sat there and watched him go off.  He sounded genuinely sorry.  She wondered, If may be Krycek had changed.

The next few weeks were tough, she was barely coping but she managed.  She went to physiotherapy.  She cried every night over the lost of her beloved Mulder.  She found it hard to work on her own and just couldn't cope.

Skinner was scanning through leaf lets that had been put through his door by someone.  There was a note that  said  Give these to Scully.  They were about dogs for disabled people.  Skinner saw that Scully was having problems so he took the leaflets to her.

"Sir, I don't need a dog" Scully said.

"I think you do" Skinner said.

"Sir, I am fine, really  I am."  Scully said.

"Scully, your not fine and have not been ever since Mulder died.  Your work has been sloppy and your in a wheel chair  struggling on your own because you refuse to have a new partner.  Quite Frankly, I don't think you are fit to work.  Either  you get a dog or I'm signing you back to teaching."  Skinner said firmly.

"Sure, Fine, Whatever."  Scully said annoyed.

"Right, Lets get you this dog."  Skinner said wheeling Scully out the office.

"I can push myself" Scully said grabbing her wheels and pushing her self.

"Sure fine, What ever" Skinner said following behind.

They got  to the dog place and Scully picked out a Black Labrador with big brown eyes.

"Why him?"  Skinner said.

"He look's like Mulder" Scully said.

"Don't tell me ya calling him Mulder then?"  Skinner said.

"No, I'm calling him spooky" Scully said.

"This is the best dog we have and you picked right.  It is trained to answer the phone, Pick things up and Answer the door.  You picked a fine dog there lady, Look after him" The Man at the Centre for dogs for the disabled.

"I'll be sure to, come on Spooky" Scully said.

The dog took to her straight away it was as if he seemed to know her.

A few week's passed and Scully and Spooky were getting on wonderful.  Scully was even chatted with the dog about cases they were working on.  She knew it was crazy but it helped her work better.  The dog acted like Mulder in ways.  He Barked at her theories on a case.

"Spooky, I'm sure its not  Aliens" Scully said as she discussed her latest case with the dog.

People were disappearing in Texas and coming back and being found wandering around a grave yard.  They had lost time and didn't know where they had been.  Scully thought it could  be some sick person who liked to kidnap people and then drug them.

"WOOF WOOF WOOF" Spooky said.

"Spooky, I am telling you its not Aliens, its one sick person.  There is a logical Explanation and I am going to find it out."  She said wheeling her self out the door.

The dog followed.

Everyone loved Spooky and for the first time in week's Scully was being spoken to like a human being and no one was  avoided her like the plaque.  Skinner was right about getting a dog.  The dog gave her a new lease of life and it really  helped here with stuff.  Crazy thing was it even helped her solve cases.

A few days passed and the missing Persons case was solved.  Spooky was wrong as it always seemed to be on these Cases and Scully was right.

Scully laughed at the thought of the man that they had arrested Saying  " And I would have gotton away with it too, if it  hadn't of been for the pesky F.B.I Agent and her dog."

That night  She and Spooky were visiting  Mulder's grave.  Spooky seemed to like the grave and he lay on it.

"Come to see him too."  A voice said placing flowers on the grave.

Spooky barked at the man.  Spooky seemed to dislike the man in some way.

"Spooky, shut up at once" Scully said.

"You named your dog after him.  Hey I'm glad you saw sense and got one."  The man said.

"How do you about all of this?"  Scully said.

"I'm the one who put the leaflets through Skinners door."  The Man said.

"Krycek is that you" Scully said wheeling over to the man.

"Yes" Krycek said.

"Your the one who have been taking care of Mulder grave.  Why?"  Scully asked.

"I cared for him just as much as you did.  I know he hated me and now its to late to patch things up.  I never killed his father, I never Killed your sister, I never killed  the tram operator, I never killed Duane Barry, The Guy On Skinners Balcony that was an accident , The boy with the black cancer he was never meant to die.  I didn't really kill anyone if you think about it.  I was just unlucky, I was at the wrong place at the wrong time.  I'm not all bad.  I'm just misunderstood."  Krycek said.

"How do I know your telling the truth" Scully said.

"WOOF WOOF" Spooky said backing Scully up.

Spooky didn't much care for Krycek and Scully could tell.

"Because its the truth, I'm an Idiot, a Stupid fool who got in to something I couldn't handle.  They were gonna kill my little brother  John, If I didn't go along with their plan.  They already killed my Wife Lucy and Son Jake to prove a point.  It  was not fair Jake was just a baby at Lucy was only 26.  I miss them dearly.  I couldn't lose my little brother.  So I agreed to help them and that was when I was assigned to Mulder.  I never meant for any of this to happen and I am sorry.  I lost my left arm because of this stupid quest."  Krycek said.

"I'm Sorry, I never knew, you suffered so much pain as I have.  I guess we are not that different after all."  Scully said.

She could understand Krycek and she could see the good in him.  Spooky didn't seem to trust Krycek..  Scully did.

"We are not" Krycek said.

"Can we call a truce and be friends" Scully said.

"I'd like that" Krycek  said.

The dog barked in protest.

"I think he's a reincarnation of Mulder."  Scully joked.

"I think you are right" Krycek said being serious.

"I was joking" Scully said.

"I think that dog is a reincarnation of Mulder, how old is he."  Krycek asked.

"6 Months and very well trained."  Scully said.

"Mulder, died 6 months ago.  Why ya  get him?"  Krycek said.

"Because he looks like Mulder."  Scully said.

"Did he take to you straight away?"  Krycek asked.

"Yes" Scully said.

"He looks like Mulder, likes you straight away, Hate's me and loves to lay on that grave.  Does he bark when you are explaining a theory" Krycek said.

"Yes, all the time, He also gives me a soppy look when he wants a dog biscuit and I have told him off for barking at  Mulder's Gold Fish.  He does that a lot.  I don't see how that dog could be a reincarnation of Mulder.  I think you are seeing  Mulder in that dog  your self.  I think  there has to be a logical explanation."  Scully said.

"WOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF" Spooky said.

"See he is disagreeing with you" Krycek said.

"He's just wants to get home.  Maybe He just doesn't like you, I mean you are a stranger to him.  Maybe he just likes  to sit on Mulder's grave."  Scully said.

"No, I really do think he is Mulder.  I can prove it to."  Krycek.

Scully laughed, For the first time in months she laughed.

"Its good to see you laugh" Krycek said.

"Its good to laugh again.  Its so Crazy for a moment you sounded like Mulder."  Scully said.

"Maybe I am seeing stuff that's not there.  But at least I got you laughing."  Krycek said.

"Thanks" Scully said.

"I better go" Krycek said.

"Hey, wanna catch a movie tomorrow."  Scully said.

"I can't really do that, I mean its too Dangerous and I don't wanna put your life in danger."  Krycek said.

"I'm an F.B.I Agent, My life is always in Danger."  Scully said patting Spooky who was by her chair.

"I know, I just want to go slow, we have a lot of history to bury and I just want to take things slowly."  Krycek said.

"OK, So when will I see you again" Scully said.

"You will find me when you need to.  You needed to find me today and you did."  Krycek said.

"How do you know that?"  Scully said.

"Scully for years you and me have had a Physic link.  You probably don't  believe in that.  But its true.  I knew what ya were thinking that day I met you in the morgue.  You were really Jealous of me, Because I was with Mulder and you want.  I knew that you loved Mulder too.  I knew you didn't trust me.  That's why I told Smoking Man you were a problem."  Krycek said.

"You told smoking man I was a problem and that was why Duane Barry abducted me and they did  those tests."  Scully said.

"Yeah, But I never told them to do it.  I was just told to hold Mulder off.  They  never told me about the tests.  I asked and they wouldn't tell me."  Krycek said.

"I believe that" Scully said.

"I have to go" Krycek said walking off.

Scully and  Spooky went home.

Scully and Spooky were on a tough case.  It was one where teenagers were saying they were vampires.   Spooky barked when Scully said they were in a cult.  It turns out they were in a cult.

The score on the cases were going Scully 10, Spooky The dog 0.

Scully liked working with her dog, It had advantages it didn't answer back.

That night Scully had a bath and went to bed reading a book.  Spooky lay at her feet.

Krycek was thinking about Scully.  He decide he was gonna get her out of that wheel chair if it was the last thing he did.  He was in love with her and had been ever since she ignored him at the morgue all those years ago.  He decide a trip to the Swiss Alps was what was need and he knew a famous doctor there called Von Harden.  He had help lots of people wheel chair bound walk again.

Krycek went to see Scully.

Spooky opened the door and let him in.  He liked Krycek now and he let Krycek pat him.

"Spooky, whose at the door" Scully called from her room.

Spooky ran in her room and Krycek followed.

Scully was happy to see him.

"I missed you" She said.

"I did too, Look Scully, I know a man who can help you walk again."  Krycek said.

"Its Impossible, the doctors say I can never walk again….  It wont work.  I'm stuck  like this for the rest of my life" Scully  said.

"Scully, I'm not gonna let that wheel chair be your life.  I'm gonna get you walking…"  Krycek yelled.

"Why should you care about me.  I mean its better like this for you.  I'm easier to kill aren't I.  I mean that's what your gonna  do.  I mean  that's what you are a killer."  Scully yelled.

"If that's what you really think then I'm truly sorry for you.  I really thought we were friends but you can't seem to bury that minor detail.  I want you to walk, I don't want to kill you and  I could never.  It was me on the phone that night missy died.  I was warning you…  I love you Dana..  I always have and will.  I could never hurt you" Yelled Krycek.

"Your a Rat and I don't believe a word you say."  Yelled Scully.

"Then believe this" Krycek said grabbing her and kissing her…

Before they knew where they were they were making love.  It was kind of difficult for them he with only one arm and her with out the use of her legs.  But they managed and it was the best sex ever..

The next day Scully agreed to go to the Swiss Alps with Krycek….

They spent weeks and weeks in the Swiss Alps.  Scully thought that it was never gonna happen her walking.  Then one day she began to walk.  It was just three days a way from her wedding with Krycek.  Yes Krycek and Scully were gonna get married.  It was a beautiful winters day in the Alps and Scully was wearing a beautiful white gowned.  Krycek didn't know she could walk again and he was crying as she walked down the alter to his side.

"You're walking" He said.

"Yes" She said.

"Wow, this couldn't get any better" Krycek said.

"Yes it can, I'm Pregnant too."  Scully said.

"That's brilliant news" Krycek said.

Scully and Krycek went back to the States as Mr.  and Mrs.  Krycek.  Scully's Mum was not happy about but made them have a big wedding just so she could invite everyone she knew.

Krycek became  Scully's partner on the X-Files.  They kept Spooky the dog and he went with them on every case.  On June 22nd they had a lovely Baby boy they named Nicholas Alexander William Krycek.  They were the best of Friends and Krycek had turned out to be the one good friend Scully never knew she had.
